Big XII+ MIS Research Symposium
The 6th Annual Big XII+ MIS Research Symposium will be held on April 5-6, 2008 at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. The Information Systems and Quantitative Sciences Area and the Rawls College of Business are the hosts for this year's symposium.
The Big XII+ MIS Research Symposium was established six years ago to create an informal setting for Big XII MIS faculty and Ph.D. students to exchange research ideas. In addition to the schools in the Big XII, research partners at University of Arkansas, University of Nebraska at Omaha, and University of Texas at Dallas were invited to participate. Thus, the conference is referred to as the Big XII+.
The following objectives for the Big XII+ MIS Research Symposium have been emphasized from the beginning:
Build networking among Big XII faculty and faculty partners and Ph.D. students engaged in IT research
Learn about recent research underway at Big XII+ sister schools
Identify areas of collaboration for funding proposals
Identify areas of collaboration for IT research in general
Build networking opportunities for graduating PhD students and hiring institutions
The vision is to create an informal setting for this exchange by inviting IT researchers to attend an annual workshop where research ideas can be exchanged. These ties should help us with future recruiting among our schools as well as enhancing research visibility of the Big XII+ schools.
The format for the conference will center around presentations by faculty and Ph.D. students regarding their current research. Prominent researchers from Big XII+ IS programs will attend the meetings and participate in both panels and general discussions.
In an effort to keep participant expenses at a minimum
The conference will not require a registration fee
Selected meals will be provided by the Rawls College of Business
Local hotels have provided special reduced rates for conference attendees
